I'm Alejandra. I love painting and that is why I decided to create this website to make my art public and accessible to everyone. I graduated from CSU Monterey Bay earning a B.A. in the Integrated Studies Special Program. My focus was Visual Arts and History of the Americas. I have also applied to the Counselor Education program at San Jose State, and hopefully I'll get in.

The main objective of this web space is to display my art works, (paintings) and some of the pieces that are still in progress. I'm also a mother of a beautiful 3 year old daughter who has become my greatest inspiration and my model as well.

I am very interested in Chicana Art, and that is why I chose that to be my webstie title, because I am Chicana and I'm also an artist that wants to create beautiful art for a social/environmental purpose of educating, raising awareness and creating change, not just to decorate. I am also very proud of my Purepecha heritage. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you like it.

Galeria Tonantzin, San Juan Bautista CA

I had the priviledge to participate in this annual art exhibit in San Juan Bautista at Galeria Tonantzin. Three of my paintings are being shown and they are for sale as well. I am also going to be selling prints and cards.

Nueva Pintura 03-20-008

I did this painting thinking of a surreal paisaje (landscape) and then I thought about painting a mother and a daughter embracing. This is a new style of my painting, more surreal and dream like. I tend to have very vivid, colorful, and the weirdest dreams. I love to sleep because I love to dream...although sometimes my dreams can be very real and scary, but I like writing about them to document them and if possible sketch or paint about them.

CoRaZoN RoTo! Mi Nueva pintura acrylica

Hice esta pintura pensando y sientiendo todos estas emociones que he experimentado recientemente. La vida es muy complicada...solo tengo 24 anos y creo que mi corazon a sentido tantas desiluciones, injusticias y resentimientos, pero se que no soy la unica, todo mundo se ha de sentir asi en algun momento. Esta pintura muestra un corazon sangrando y roto porque asi me he sentido por algun tiempo ya....tengo la esperanza de curar mi corazon y recuperarme como lo he hecho antes y como lo hacen tantas personas todos los dias en este mundo en el que vivimos. espero y se de su agrado!

Los Reyes Michocan--My Parents & the Agave

Yesterday we went to La Huerta Don Nacho in honor of my grandfather Nacho. Es una huerta de Zarzamora and my dad is very excited with the work that he is doing there. Next to it they have the Agave which will be ready soon, it's almost 5 years old alredy, the plants are very tall and big, and on the opposite side they have Cana, de donde sale el azucar, pero la cana ya no deja mucho y pues por eso ahora los agricultores como mi papa estan mas interesados en plantar berries o agave u otras cosas.

The Sophomore class at Great America-2007

We took the sophomores to Great America as an end of the year field trip. We had lots of fun, although I don't really like getting on the rides/roller coasters. In the first picture I am with Ms. Felipe (English teacher) and Ms. Lalonde (Biology teacher). They are both great women. Ms. Lalonde has been very supportive her classroom is also in the quad area near mine so we had more opportunity to talk and she was always very supportive. In the second image I am with my 15 kids that I was responsible for, they are so funny!
