Chicana Art by Alejandra

Welcome / Bienvenidos

I'm Alejandra. I love painting and that is why I decided to create this website to make my art public and accessible to everyone. I graduated from CSU Monterey Bay earning a B.A. in the Integrated Studies Special Program. My focus was Visual Arts and History of the Americas. I have also applied to the Counselor Education program at San Jose State, and hopefully I'll get in.

The main objective of this web space is to display my art works, (paintings) and some of the pieces that are still in progress. I'm also a mother of a beautiful 3 year old daughter who has become my greatest inspiration and my model as well.

I am very interested in Chicana Art, and that is why I chose that to be my webstie title, because I am Chicana and I'm also an artist that wants to create beautiful art for a social/environmental purpose of educating, raising awareness and creating change, not just to decorate. I am also very proud of my Purepecha heritage. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you like it.

Enjoy!

New Art Opportunities!

I am very excited about the new art opportunities I've had. I am currently showing 4 of my paintings at the Pajaro Vallery Arts Gallery in Watsconville. So far, two people are interested and would like to interview me, which I think it's cool. I also received an email from the Mexican Museum in San Francisco about the Holiday Art Sale event that they're having. I rapidly replied to them and sent them slides and photographs of my work. They seemed to like it and I already dropped off 4 of my paintings for this show. I took "April," "Still Life," "snowy Lanscape," and "Night." I decided to donate "Night." The museum is very small now. They've lost a lot of the space they had due to their low budget. Supposedly many of the corporations that used to donate them a lot of money have moved and stopped giving them those donations. And many factors have been contributing to this sad reality. But at least there is still people that care about not closing this museum, and volunteer working. I can't volunteer becuase I'm too far, but at least I donated my paitning. If it sells, they keep all the money. That's a way for me to say thank you to them for the opportunity.

I will also start taking art classes next semester and will be taking the CSET in art. I hope I pass it. I will try to prepare myself to do good in this test. I would be so happy being an art teacher. It's just something I hope I get to do one day.

If you are interested in any of my paintings let me know. Contact me at my email address. Thanks!
Viva la Vida!
